hey,
well, i'm learing something about living non-stop in close corrdors with my parents. its very different from my day to day life. you can pray for me :)
do you know what it feels like when you open up a oven turned to max and you feel that gust of steaming air? welcome to Arizon. once i jumped out of the RV i practically had to swim to the gas station. it's crazy... the air conditioner in the car works beautifully (if you happen to be in the front two seats. . . which i am not)
well, as i have mentioned to many of you, i am reading quite a bit and luckily i do not get car sick if we're on the highway. i finished the Good Earth and i have about 10 pages left from The Portrain of Dorian Grey.
i'm glad that occupies my time... yes... so these past few days have been fun,
we've met 3 other families since i last updated. first was the garlands. they were nice, they had a beautiful house and Mr. Garland had a wonderful story. He was paralized waist down when he fell from a ladder. he told us "you can never look back and second guess the choises you made that were made from the options you had" he told us that since a man told him that (the guy said it before his accident happened) he has never looked back and asked "why did i climb that ladder?" it was crazy. makes me wonder what reaction i'd have.
next was doug and elise (i can't think of their last name...) the first thing they said when we arived is "you want to go on a bike ride on the board walk?" ,.. as you now know, they life 10 steps from the beach in Sad Diego, it was lovely... the best adventure i've had this whole trip! they had these fun cruiser bikes. now we are here in Arizon with this family that doesn't support us/ the reason we know them is my dad and the Mrs. went to the same highschool! also all of them (including their 24 ish year old daughter who is here) went to Multnomah Bible school in Oregon. (ironic that that is one of my first college choises so far )
ok. one thing that is very frustrating is that this girl here (the 24 one) is the first person i've seen that is close to my age since i've been here.... ok... cool, exciting but she's listening to my parents. so it gets kinda lonely around here... ya... whatever... i have lots of time to be productive in other ways; ie pray, drum, read, explore... ect/ ok the second most annoyng thing is this: every single time my parents say the same exact story!!! ahhh and every time it has a different twist (i'm not sure which one is real now...) so that is the reason that i am not hanging out with them NOW because after the same thing over and over (even the same DVD!) it gets old... not to mention that my attention span is not very long at these sit-and-chat-about-mission-success type things.
humpf.... wow i'm worn out... i'd love all of your prayers... this adventure is fun but hard.'
hopefully i'll get to hang out with that girl.. i think her name is amanda... hmmmm....
much love (and heat)
merritt
